Three Fast Facts About The UK Points-Based Immigration System

Most of us have wanted to try and study and live abroad. There are a ton of places where you can go, but the most popular places are the UK, Canada, and America. The UK has a points-based immigration system that was modified on 1st January 2021. People who want to now work in the UK will face strict criteria for immigration. The Tier 2, or the General visa has been replaced by the Skilled Worker Visa, making it harder for individuals to meet this requirement. We have talked to a ton of experts in the field in order to understand some facts about this points-based immigration system.

It is not open to individuals inside the European Union (EU) anymore
Gone are the days when anyone who was living inside the EU could pack their bags and exercise the freedom of movement, even to Britain. On 31 December 2020, the UK left the EU and declared itself separate. This led to a band on movement from other countries inside the EU to the UK. Now, the points-based immigration system also applies to people within the EU and people outside the EU. If you were living in Britain before 31 December 2020, you would still be able to get Pre-settled or Settled status in the UK.

You have three ways to immigrate
If you are aiming for jobs that are eligible for overseas recruitment, you might be looking at the Skilled Worker route. This will require a job offer from a sponsor, having the required skill level or RQF 3 or more, and speaking English to a minimum standard determined by the law.  You will also require 20 more points from non-mandatory fields.

The Global Talent Route will be offered to individuals that are highly skilled and are endorsed by a recognized body in the country, such as winning an eligible award. This might sound a bit complex, but it is quite easy if you have the help of a UK immigration lawyer since they will help you know your options better. The Graduate route enables students who have gotten their degree to stay in the UK for a few more years to work or to look for a job, but this visa can not be extended.

Other ways to temporarily immigrate
You can choose other, lesser-known routes such as an intra-company transfer that allows employees of the same company to temporarily come to the UK. The intra-company graduate Trainee visa is for people who have a clearly defined progression towards a crucial role in a recognized organisation. You can also move to the UK if you have entrepreneurial talent in you and can introduce scalable business ideas in the UK. If you are working in certain health areas and can get a work offer from the NHS, you can enter the UK with a Health and Care Visa. you will get a decreased application fee and will not have to pay a charge that is taken from most other types of visas.

It is important to know the different ways through which you can enter the UK, but it can get quite overwhelming to navigate through sometimes. Do your research and meet an expert if you need to.
